What to expect...

Have you ever painted a place with the soil from that very spot? Beginning with experimentation in the studio using pigments gathered from Three Cliffs Bay. You will be shown how to identify, filter and mull your own earth paints, including the different stages and techniques, plus a range of binders you can use from more traditional to prehistoric. I will have already prepared a concentrated paint for you, stored in a little seashell palette, for you to add to your own collection of artist mediums. You will also be provided with an A4 canvas board and any paintbrushes you might need, before we venture on down to the beach. Once we reach the magnificent bay and find a perch, you will then have one hour to capture it's splendour. We will dilute our paint with water will be collected from the river and you will have the option of adding charcoal for definition foraged from the beach. I am there to guide you, with tips on how to paint a monochromatic landscape, but mostly we will be letting the earth speak for itself. Parking at the Gower Heritage Centre is included in the ticket price. We also have a coffee shop and bakery on site for any refreshments you might need.
